Visit Rincon
Rincon is one of the most ancient towns in Bonaire but also in the former Netherlands Antilles. This town was built to prevent pirate attacks. Visitors who wish to really immerse themselves in the unique culture of Bonaire should be sure to visit the one-a-month Nos Zjilea Cultural Market at Mangazina di Rei Cultural Park located in Rincon. This is the second-oldest stone building on Bonaire and used to be a storehouse. Every week, the slaves made the arduous 10-hour journey from the salt pans in the south to this village in the north, to see their families and to get their provisions from the storehouse. Now the Mangazina di Rei is part of a cultural park & learning center designed to spark interest in Bonaire’s culture, history, landscape and nature of the area around the village of Rincon. We invite you to see, feel & taste the Bonairean way of life!
While visiting Rincon make sure to stop by The Cadushy Distillery. Have you ever tried drinking a cactus? On Bonaire you can! In The Cadushy Distillery the world’s unique Cadushy of Bonaire Liqueur is made out of cactus. Learn how the products are made and taste all the Dutch Caribbean Islands Liqueurs as well as the Rom, Vodka, Tequila and Whiskey. Enjoy!
